Moving Forward Sharpens Teaching and Tech Tools Focus

Pittsburgh, PA — September 1, 2014. Moving Forward Pittsburgh, Inc. has refined its mission and vision to include providing teaching and technology tools to nonprofits, including affordable computer application training for nonprofit staff and constituents.

The new mission statement reads: Moving Forward Pittsburgh, Inc. provides teaching and technology tools to local non-profits to help them boost their outcomes.

The new vision reads: Moving Forward Pittsburgh, Inc. believes that all individuals can be empowered to build better socio-economic and socio-emotional lives for themselves. We want to support the non-profit organizations that are making that happen by (1) helping them to teach their constituents more effectively with our From the Inside Out on-line curricula modules – and (2) by providing nonprofits with the professionally re-furbished technology tools they couldn’t otherwise afford through our Operation E-Cycle Program, now in its 7th year!

Says Barbara Shafran, Founder and Executive Director of Moving Forward, “We are excited to limit our focus to just providing the technology tools and the training tools to nonprofits. There are many nonprofits who are providing career training and job placement — it made more sense to help them to boost their outcomes than to compete with them for resources. While we will miss conducting our own training programs and job placement programs — we will be more effective as an organization by just providing the tools.”
